My first stop this morning was the Municipio, or town hall, to get a stamp from my credenziale. I was led up a big set of stairs and then down corridors lined with old record books to an office where I achieved my goal .

The Municipio at Corleone

Then it was a steep climb up through the old town.

It’s built around a number of huge outcrops of rock.

I was soon in the countryside and its appearance was totally different to yesterday . It was much greener, there were numerous houses, and lots of activity.

The path works its way up a valley and then there’s a climb across to another valley

The ruined 18th century church of Santa Maria della Scala.

Now maybe the heat was getting to my brain, but I thought the top of this mountain looked like a dog’s head.

The view from the other side looking north.

Here I was back into much drier terrain.

From here, Prizzi was visible way off in the distance on the ridge line.

Now maybe I’m really stretching things here, but I could see a camel pulling a cart.

A dam has blocked the ancient route that I’m following so there’s a diversion. The water level is low at this time of the year.

From here my very slow climb up to Prizzi began.

Looking back to where I’d walked from.

Even though I was very close to the hilltop town of Prizzi, I had a good hours hard slog to get there.

Prizzi is a lovely hilltop town and I’m staying in very comfortable ‘La Casa Della Bouganville’.

I was very lucky to catch a procession in honour of the Sicilian Saint Rosalia .

I’ve finally met some other pilgrims – Giuditta and Vittorio from Rome who are staying in the same place.

The food was very good.

Dinner with fellow pilgrims Giudetta and Vittorio.
