I forgot to mention in my last post that 3 llamas along with 3 humans left from Soprabolzano, where I caught the cable car yesterday, in February and made it to Rome for Easter . They travelled along my route. You can read about it In this newspaper article.
I left Bozen along a cycle and walking path along the river. It was very busy as today was a public holiday in Italy. Along the way, two Italian speaking Jehovah’s Witnesses asked if they could have a chat with me but I told them I was in a hurry as I had to get to Rome.
Even when I got up into the hills it was quite busy.
The countryside around here is very beautiful and obviously very fertile. As well as apples, I’ve now gotten into the wine growing area.
Apple trees.
The Gewürztraminer grape grows well here.
In the afternoon. I walked the rest of the way to Termino with Silvana who is a local member of the VRG Association. She also extremely kindly cooked dinner for me.
In the valley are two glacerial lakes and the locals were enjoying themselves on their holiday.
As well as wild flowers,
there are many beautiful gardens to be admired.
Here’s a beautiful view looking down on the valley.
This farmer had a big collection of old tractors.
When we arrived at Termeno , Silvana took me to see the 11th century Sankt Jakob or St James chapel above the town built at the peak time of pilgrimages to Santiago.
The strange creatures represent the battlefield between good and evil .
Tomorrow my walk to Salurn will bring me close to the historic German/ Italian linguistic border.
That’s the great thing about getting out and about. You meet lovely people. I was doing some wedding in the new garden area yesterday and 5, yes 5, people stopped to have long chats about the progress of the garden and the changes to the driveway etc. All really lovely, although I did not get a dinner cooked for me 🤪

Hi Barbara it’s been like walking through the Garden of Eden. It’s been quite hot- people have commented that they’ve leapt straight from winter to summer.

As others have said, the photos are beautiful. I am looking forward to putting them up on the TV to appreciate the subjects better. The holiday makers show again that there is nothing ever so worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Wish I was there!
