I had a beautiful day to start my walk.
After leaving Innsbruck, there was a steep climb rewarded by a stunning view looking back towards the city.
The countryside is incredibly neat and orderly. A large proportion of the tracks were sealed with seats along the way
There was a mixture of open pasture and pine forest.
There were lots of tiny wildflowers
running water, which finds its way down to the Danube and the Black Sea,
houses and churches with painted decorations
and other interesting architecture.
There were a range of signs for walkers as a number of walks share this route, including the Austrian Jacobsweg heading towards Santiago in the opposite direction (See map)
The walk today had 1,000m of climbing and was only supposed to be 20km, but my Fitbit somehow recorded 27km . In any event, I arrived at my comfy Gasthof at 3pm.
I finished the day with a tafelspitz washed down with wheat beer !
Tomorrow I head up to the Brenner Pass and cross the border into Italy.
Paul, great to see you doing what you enjoy. Fantastic photos. Miled

Oh Paul- what a wonderful surprise- I can vicariously climb mountains, enjoy glorious views and see interesting architecture because you have once again set out on an adventure!
I have not had access to my email for about a month so I don’t even know when you started your journey or where you’re heading.
Thank you for including me. I look forward to seeing and reading about this exciting walk.
Best wishes
Vicki

Hi Paul I haven’t seen anyone yet. Also being a new route there are only hostels in the bigger towns so I haven’t had the opportunity of meeting other pilgrims in tbe evening.

Thanks – it takes me hours to select, edit and then compress the photos but I guess I’ve got nothing else to do in the evening!
